Experience they say is the best teacher. In year 2010 during one year serving my fatherland (Nigeria) we call it NYSC (National Youth Service Corp) in which you will be posted to a particular state to render your service for a year after your graduation from university.
Posted to Kano the most populated state in Northern Nigeria I tasted a particular drink and I wish to share the experience.
Fura de nono
Fura da nono is very popular drink in the Northern states especially in Sokoto state where it can be taken any time of the day.
Nono is the Hausa word for cow’s milk sold by the Fulani women. However many people prefer to use plain yogurt to mix with the fura and drink.
What's Fura
This is simply millet or Guinea corn flour.
Below are the preparation don't be scared lolzzz.
REQUIREMENTS
Where is Nono coming from? See below how..
- Millet or Guinea Corn flour or Soya bean flour
- 1 Teaspoon of each Dried pepper, Africa black pepper and Cloves
- 1 Teaspoon of dry ginger root (grinded)
- 1 tablespoon of corn flouf
- 1litre of Nono some use yougurt
- Sugar to taste.
What you do
Mix the flours with all the spices thoroughly.Add a little water and mix to form a thick paste.Mould into medium sized balls.
Boil the water for about 5 minutes. Add the balls to the boiling water and continue boiling for about 20 minutes.
Remove the balls from the boiling pot and pound thoroughly.Mould into small balls and sprinkle corn flour to keep the balls moist.
