Recipe: Quesillo (Venezuelan flan), easy dessert in less than 10 minutes
Who said that men are not good at cooking?
It is not necessary to be Sumito Estevez or Ferrán Adriá to be able to go through the kitchen and make a tasty dessert to share with the family, and with this easy homemade Venezuelan-style quesillo recipe I will show it.
The first thing is to clarify, for the friends who read us and are not from Venezuela, that the quesillo is the Venezuelan version of the flan they eat in Spain and other Latin American countries.
The difference between one and the other is basically of some ingredients as you will see below.
It is worth knowing that I chose this dessert as the first one whose recipe I will bring for these parts, because I like it a lot and it is very easy to do even for us men ... I assure you that in less than 10 minutes you will have ready the preparation just waiting for the cooking
INGREDIENTS:
Flanera / Quesillera or a pot that has the appropriate size
3 eggs
1 can of condensed milk (about 300 ml).
1 can of liquid milk (the same measure as condensed milk).
A little rum (a stream, varies according to how "drunk" you want).
A touch of vanilla.
For the candy:
- 5 tablespoons of white sugar
- A spoonful of water.
PREPARATION:
The first thing is to make the candy that is very simple and it will take us just under 5 minutes. In the flanera, add the tablespoons of sugar and put the water, it should be noted that the amount of water is according to the desired thickness of the caramel.
Then we put the flanera on high heat until the sugar is browned and turn into caramel as shown in the photo:
Finally we take the fire and wait for it to cool (while we prepare the mixture).
Note: So that the edge of the quesillo is with caramel, the caramel edges must be impregnated.
The next thing is to make the mixture that takes also take less than 5 minutes: Pour the eggs, condensed milk, milk, rum and vanilla in the blender and beat until you get a homogeneous mixture.
Then we have the mixture ready pour in the flanera and put to cook the quesillo in a bain marie for 35 minutes (almost a pair of chapters of Big Bang Theory).
At the end we remove the flanera, to check that it is made and to check it we can put a clean knife and if it comes out clean it is ready and we turn it on a plate and put it to cool in the refrigerator.
Finally we should have something like:
