The recipe can be made using ground chicken, ground pork, or turkey or whatever meat you like. The same thing with the vegetables you can use whatever are your favorites. It’s just a matter of knowing how to wrap them. Once, that is achieved making eggrolls is fun and easy. And you have wonderful delicious snacks to savor and devour at your convenient. Enjoy and Happy cooking!
Note: Wrapper can be found usually at an Asian aisle in a supermarket or store. This wrapper is preferable simply because it is very easy to separate individually.
Ingredients:
1.2 lbs of 93% lean ground beef
2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
1 sml onion, chopped
ground black pepper
johnny’s seasonings
2 16oz. pkg of mixed vegetables
vegetable oil for frying
2 pkg. Eggroll or Lumpia Wrapper
water in a small bowl – this is to be used for sealing
Steps and Procedures:
In a large saucepan, heat one tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat.
Saute garlic and onions for about two-three minutes.
Add ground beef and break them up using the back of a large spoon then seasoned with johnny’s seasoning and black pepper to taste.
Breaking ground beef again using the back of a serving spoon and keep stirring until ground beef is cooked for about 5-7 minutes.
Add mixed vegetables and keep stirring for about 10-12 minutes until vegetables are cooked.
Remove from the pan and place the beef mixture on a serving platter. Cover with a lid and put in the fridge for half an hour to cool it down.
Remove the ground beef mixture from the fridge.
Start wrapping the meat mixture with egg-roll wrapper by placing about 1-2 tablespoon of meat towards the bottom of the wrapper as shown below.
Fold the wrapper up then fold either the left or right side of the wrapper toward the center as shown below.
Start rolling the wrapper away from you and put a little bit of pressure to it using your fingers while rolling it, that way it is tight. When almost at the end, dip your finger in the bowl with water and smear it across the wrapper as a paste to seal the eggroll.
Do one wrapper at a time and place the wrapped eggroll on a serving platter as shown below in the picture.
When all done wrapping, you are now ready to fry them. Heat about 5 tablespoons of oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Or you can put some of them on a zip lock bag and freeze for about two weeks. And just fry whenever you decide and want to eat some of your eggrolls.
Fry the eggrolls as shown below until golden brown. Place each cooked eggroll on a serving platter. Serve with sweet and sour sauce like the one below of whatever is your choice of sweet and sour sauce is.
There you have it. Making eggrolls is very easy and fun to do and they are a delicious treats or snacks any time of day.
