Kombucha Brewing!!! At last! Fermentation complete!

Look at these bubbles! Came out perfectly!

After 7 days of 1st fermentation with the scoby my kombucha was tasting very sweet.

I decided to bottle it anyway and thought with a decent amount of fruit that during 2nd fermentation it would end up tasting a little tart.

First bottle is a blueberry raspberry and the other is a strawberry lemon ginger!

My original air tight bottles did not make it to my house like expected so some improvisation had to take place in a pinch.

These Martinelli Apple Juice bottles I figured would have to do.

They remained air tight but after 1 day in fear of creating a glass grenade I decided to let the air out of the blueberry one because it seemed to be carbonating out of control!

I should have left it alone as I was never able get the air tight seal again...probably because it was damages by the high pressure of the carbonation.

I then transfered the blueberry fizzy deliciousness into a gallon jar with lid ..and in 1 day had lost all of its carbonation...:(

The strawberry lemon ginger kombucha after 2 days in about a 85 degree closet still holds its carbonation to this day! And is quite wonderful I might add :-)

Interesting! I remember as a kid my mom would make us kombucha tea. It has a lot of health benefits apparently. Can't remember how it taste though. I should try to find a plant locally. :-)

You should definately make some! Its so easy! I ordered the SCOBY online and had no problems :) it tastes like badass fruit soda tea but with more fizz!

Kombutcha ! great health benefit it has 13 diffrent probiotics..... we need a healthy colon to stay healthy... i take it since years and feel great , never got a cold or flue.... but i never put a top on the finnished bottled , Kombutcha needs air.... stay healthy steemians make some Kombutcha

Nice! I brewed kombucha with my bandmate a couple of years back before I quit the band lol. It turned out super awesome, especially the strawberry ginger. I got the best, ripest strawberries I've ever bought from the store (organic, it was summer.) Anyway, thanks for bringing back good memories :D Glad yours turned out well!

Awesome! I am a musican as well! Hope you still play...it was my first kombucha ever! Really nice to get brewing again..I used to make mead which is another great investment..currently have 7 year old mead sitting in a bottle in the attic lol

I do still play! I'm a keyboardist/ vocalist. It's kinda impossible to fully quit ;)
That's hilarious about the mead, that was the first thing I ever tried to brew,
In high school no less! I did it secretly, obviously. I was too scared to drink much of it but one of my good friends downed a whole bottle and liked it, lol!
