一顿饭在辽宁 - a meal in China
I taught at a university in Liaoning (辽宁) in 2012/3, in the city of Anshan. It is very important for steel production, or was at that time, but we lived up the hill from the city centre, and in a relatively clean environment.
We were taken for this meal by some friends. It was about an hour's drive, a journey that took a little longer than it should have, because we got lost. Eventually we found ourselves on a road that actually seemed to cross the back of a factory lot, then climb round the side of a slag-heap ... And then out into the countryside.
The restaurant was on a farm, with orchards stretching up the hills on either side of a small valley. We arrived, the food was ordered, and then we had a couple of hours to explore whilst everything was prepared.

To the west of us were the plains leading to Beijing, and to the west, I imagined, were a series of small hills and valleys, all the way to Korea. We had another friend there who was married to a Korean man. It felt as if we were very close to the border.
好吃点就多吃点
We all had plenty to eat.
