Mashed Jack fruit with fish curry

Jack fruit is a seasonal fruit. It is very sweet when it is ripe. Apart from eating as a fruit when they are ripe, they can also be used for making various dishes, when it is raw . Since Jack fruit has got high nutritive value, it can be used as a meal with fish and meat dishes. Here, Mashed jack fruit is prepared by using raw jack fruit. ( better when the color of the flesh turns slightly yellowish ).

Mashed Jack fruit
Ingredients:
Chopped raw jack fruit - 4 c
Peeled and cut jack fruit seeds - 8-10
Grated coconut -1 1/2 c
Garlic - 4 cloves
green chillies -2
powered cumin -1tsp
fresh coconut oil - 2-3 tbsp
salt - to taste
water - 1 c

Method:
Cut the Jack fruit into small pieces. Remove the flesh and seeds from it .
Chop the flesh and cut the seeds .

Put it in a pot and add water and salt and cook it until it is soft.

Grind the coconut,garlic,chilies,cumin seed powder,and turmeric powder, lightly,
Make a hole in the cooked jack fruit and add the coconut mixture into it. Cover the pot and cook another 2-3 mins.
Remove from fire and mash the mixture well.Add coconut oil and salt (if needed)and mix well and the dish is ready to serve.

Fish curry with coconut

Ingredients:
Fish cut into cubes - 300- 350 gm

Roasted chilly powder - 1 1/2 tsp
Roasted coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
Ginger - a small piece
Garlic -2-3 cloves
Pepper -1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
Roasted fenugreak powder -1/4 tsp
Dried Garcinia cambogia 3-4 pieces ( If not available, 2 tbsp tomato puree can be used, for the sour taste)
Grated coconut -2 tbsp
salt - to taste
water _ enough to cover the fish mixture

For garnishing :
Shallot -1
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
curry leaves - 2 stalks
cooking oil -3 tbsp

Method:
Grind the coconut ,ginger,garlic and all powders into a smooth paste .
Put the fish in a pot and add the ground mixture , Garcinia cambogia / tomato puree, salt and water and cook .Once boils, simmer gently on a low flame until the gravy thickens.

Heat the cooking oil in a frying pan ,add mustard,allow it to burst,add finely chopped shallot ,fry till golden brown color,add curry leaves and remove from fire and pour it over the fish curry. The curry is ready to serve .
