SO happy watermelons are in season now, as I absolutely love starting my days off with a 32 ounce glass of sweet watermelon juice. Always gets me started to a great start. Watermelons are such a great and abundant fruit everyone should be taking advantage of when they're in season. Although the ones available to me right now are seedless, that's perfectly fine as they are grown without genetically modified organisms and taste pretty sweet and taste great.
Seeded watermelons are 10x sweeter compared to seedless ones. The only con with seeded watermelons is the consistent picking out of the seeds. For this reason, many people prefer seedless over seeded, and that's totally understandable. But most aren't aware just how nutritious watermelons seeds are. They provide a plethora of benefits, so you may learn to like eating them like I have.

Being that watermelon flesh is made up of 90% water (and only 6% sugar of the good kind), I prefer to blend my watermelon into a juice in my blender over running it through my juicer. And for the sake of quick and ease, a seedless watermelon makes the whole process must faster to blend.
One thing to know about watermelon is it's best combined with other melons, berries and vegetables. This is called proper food combining. Since watermelons digest the fastest, eating other fruits that may be slower on the digestive system can slow down the digestive process. They say, 'eat melons alone, or leave them alone!'. This holds some truth... you can learn all about proper food combining in this post here.
Now, onto the most candy tasting watermelon juice you've probably ever tasted recipe!
Here is a recipe video my father, Jeremiah The Raw Vegan Preneur posted on his YouTube channel, where he's got around 7k subscribers:
WATERMELON JUICE RECIPE FT. DIATOMACEAS EARTH
- a sweet and ripe watermelon
- 1 heaping tablespoon of diatomaceas earth powder (get your bag here)
1.) Cut open a good piece of watermelon and scoop the flesh into your blender pitcher. (I use Dash blender).
2.) Solely blend the watermelon flesh (without the DE powder) on high for 1 to 2 minutes.
3.) Scoop a heaping tablespoon of diatomaceas powder into your serving glass.
4.) Serve your juice in your glass with DE powder and using a wooden spoon, mix the DE with watermelon juice.
Drink and enjoy! :)
To determine if the watermelon you're picking will be a sweetie, be sure to look for the yellow patch. It should look something like this:
Great selections of ripe watermelons.
Here is a very informative video my dad made on his YouTube channel explaining all the amazing health benefits of diatomaceas earth.
