Pork ribs in soy sauce and honey our way (by Raka and Andrea)

in #food7 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemers. Today I will tell you how to easily prepare a spicy and hot meal!! This is a version of net recipe that my wife and I played around with. Its for 3-4 people. It takes about 15 minutes to prepare for cooking. If you need to make more for some special occasion, just get another portion of ribs and double up on everything.

For this you will need:

  1. 1.5 Kg (3-3,5 lb) rack of pork ribs, halved (but in whole, don’t separate each rib)
  2. 1 tablespoon of salt (if soy sauce is really salty, consider little less salt)
  3. 1 tablespoon of black pepper powder
  4. 1 tablespoon of sweet paprika
  5. 1 tablespoon of chili powder
  6. 10 cloves of garlic, minced
  7. 1 dl (100 ml or 3,5 FL OZ) of soy sauce
  8. 0.5 dl (50 ml of 1,5 - 2 FL OZ) of honey
  9. Cooked rice or mash potato for addition

You can use slow cooker for this or use oven. For oven you will need something that can be covered and to be enough size for the ribs.

Take a small bowl and put salt, pepper, paprika and chili and mix it. We will use that for seasoning.

In a cooking pot mix soy sauce and honey and add minced garlic.

Wash the ribs with water to get rid of small bones (it you happen to find them).

Season the ribs with prepared seasoning. Rub the seasoning on all sides.

Put the seasoned ribs in cooking pot and turn them over in soy sauce mix until covered with it. Close the cooker and put in oven or turn on the slow cooker.

For slow cooker, it takes about 3-4 hours on high, or 7-8 hours on low.

For oven, I used 200 degrees of Celsius (400 F) for about 3 hours.

Half time in, open the cooker and check the ribs and turn them over if needed. The idea is that when you poke the ribs, no fluid is coming out of them.

Use the sauce in the pot over the ribs to make them juicy and spicy.

Also, watch for the sauce and check it so it doesn't evaporate too much.

Hope you will enjoy preparing and eating it.

oh man, that looks intense. i could see myself with a bottle of corona outside eating that with sticky hands!

I guess you could cook it in clay pot and in fire on a camping trip or something. I might even try it and write about that expirience !! :)
