Bakso ini sebenaranya sama seperti bakso lainya yang di jual di Bireuen. namun yang membuat bakso gatok ini melegenda adalah ditambahkannya sum-sum tulang lembu serta lemak bercampur daging ke dalam kuah bakso. Cara makannya pun khas. Tidak cukup dengan garpu dan sendok, tapi perlu pipet untuk menghirup cairan sum-sum yang terletak di bagian dalam tulang.
