NAMING; IS DOUBLE (TWINS WORD) IN AFRICA ESPECIALLY NIGERIA

It is often said that identical babies are called Twins. Well in Nigeria where i am from, words appears to be pronounce in twins. Let us do this together, the list is endless. So i will start with

  1. FOOD:

(i) Fried Plantain : In Nigeria it takes a twin so we pronounce it as (DODO)

Smiling, I know right. But for the record especially if you are not from Nigeria.
Note: (a) When it is roasted its called (Boli) (b) When it is unripe and fried it is called (Kpekere)

(ii) Cassava meal: In Nigeria it takes a twin so you pronounce it as (FUFU), let me quickly explain what i mean, because i am not sure cassava meal is the english name. Lol. Okay, it is processed cassava allowed to ferment for like two days, then it is grinded,washed with a sieve, allowed to dry and put on heat. It comes out like this

Eat one rap of that then you will know the true meaning of Swallow, "na him warri pepo dey call #starch , better one with banga soup".

N/B: Who ever knows the English name for "FUFU" should please comment here.

(2) SNACKS:

 (i) Chin-Chin: Its a snack made from flour when it has been mixed and kneaded, then fried. It is served to guest while they wait for the real meal and by the way its a twin word pronounced by Nigerian as (CHINCHIN)

It sounds as if you want to pronounce a typical Igbo girl's name. "Chi-Chi"

(ii) Groundnut meal: Some folks are wondering what is he saying, Even me i shock , I don't know if that is what the English man call it but Bros. In Nigeria it is pronounce as a twin word (KULI-KULI)!

(iii) Puff-Puff: I think this twin word is pronounce the same universally but what makes this twin word unique is the fact that the moment you are caught buying it before you even think of placing in it in your mouth, you are blasted "CHOP CHOP".. A twins word for you eat too much.

(iv) Mentol (Popularly called "Sweet"): It is a twins word pronounce "TOM-TOM"

(3) DISEASES:

(i) Amoebic dysentery: This is typically stooling i.e passing out faeces more than two times a day. In Nigeria its a twin word, a typical Yoruba man will exclaim "JEDI-JEDI". You do not want to experience this because the toilet will be your friend.

(ii) Dandruff: This is simply an Ecto-parasite causing sick irritation as well as damage to hair growth its commonly found on the head. All this plenty grammar i am saying in Nigeria it is a twin word meaning "LAPA-LAPA" don catch you.

And when people see this they call you another twin word "WOR-WOR" meaning "UGLY". And if you itch the surface it can further be called a twin word "QRA-QRA" the sound alone will tell the ethology of the name.

NOTE: If you have any disease of any sort you be termed a twin word "SICKI SICKI"
