Who invented pizza?
Similar to pizza cakes baked in Ancient Egypt, then this dish appeared in the Ancient Greeks. The Italians borrowed this dish from them, and since time immemorial pizza has become the food of poor Italian peasants, who made different dishes of flour, olive oil, cheese and herbs. Focaccia village cakes-a cross between pita bread and pizza — became a prototype of pizza. Tomatoes were included in their composition only in the XVIII century, before they were considered poisonous. The first pizza, which is considered to be the year of birth of this dish, cooked Baker Raphael Esposito from Naples. In 1889, he baked a special pizza during the visit of king Humberto of Italy and Queen Margherita. In honor of the Queen, he called a pizza "Margarita". Pizza acquired the colors of the Italian flag: red (tomatoes), white (mozzarella cheese) and green (Basil).
