                               Hot spiced Apple Cider, the smell is almost better than the taste!

On a snowy winters day, brisk fall or a warm summers night, comforting Hot Apple Cider warms the heart in Amsterdam and all over the world!


Hot spiced Apple Cider Recipe

Ingredients 

6       cups apple cider 

1/2   cup maple syrup

4       strips of orange peel

3       cinnamon sticks (plus additional for optional toppings)

10     whole allspice berries

10     whole cloves

8      whole black peppercorns

1/2  teaspoon crushed black pepper (optional)

1      apple chopped (optional)

splash of whiskey, rum or brandy (optional) 


Instructions


Place cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, whole black peppercorns, whole allspice berries and orange peel in a medium saucepan. 

Pour in apple cider and maple syrup, then bring to almost a boil. 

Reduce the heat to its lowest setting and simmer for 30 minutes.

Remove from the heat, strain and Ladle into mugs.  Enjoy!


Additional toppings:

Cinnamon sticks

Chopped apples

Crushed Black pepper

Rum

Brandy

Whiskey

this looks soooooo good....I have never seen chopped apples floating in apple cider before....great idea. They are probably soft and yummy by the time most of the liquid is gone.
