Exploring Colonial Cuisine

Now we’re entering the kitchen area of the Andres Eloy Blanco House-Museum. Like all buildings from the colonial era, a wood-burning stove was necessary for cooking, but in this case, there is a large wood-burning stove with ample capacity. The most striking feature of this section is an immense chimney made of bahareque to vent smoke through the roof—a structure that remains intact, just as it was built 266 years ago.
