The Nigerian meal; Bole
This food is known as grilled plantain to some individuals or roasted plantain to some others. In Nigeria, it has been given the generalised name BOLE. Bole and fish is sold at almost every corner of our streets,it is a quintessential Nigerian street food. it's not a food for any particular class of people as buyers/eaters range from low income earners to high earners.
So you may be wondering, why Bole today?? Well, I just had my fair share of this tasty meal, my ripe roasted plantain with fish tail.
So I thought I should share the experience and enlighten some people about this delicacy.
Purchasing it is like a point and choose game. You select the biggest size your eyes can see, watch to clearly see that you are not given a smaller size. The seller picks it up, scrapes it with knife to remove the burnt parts. The plantain is broken into smaller pieces, you also get your choice of fish, be it head, middle or tail. The peper/tomato sause is then poured upon your plantain, you hear people say stuffs like "madam abeg pack plenty sauce " Or " i no want too much oil". Everything is then packaged in a small black nylon if you are taking it away or a flat stainless plete for eat-in.
