THROWING THE FEED BAG ON - FOR HEALTHY EATING

Hello my Steemian friend!!
Today I want to talk about diet. What we eat, and when we eat it.

Here in the USA most of people have traditionally sat down every evening to a big meal with the family.

Yep, around 6 PM has been the traditional family dinner time for all American's. As everyone is available, school is out for the day, Dad is home from work, and Mom has made dinner for the family. Now I realize this is very general, and there are always differing circumstances. But this is the big picture, and one that points to the evening meal being the traditional family meal. And this family meal is the "big" meal of the day.

This is how I was raised and how my parents were raised before me. But I have learned it's very wrong for a human's digestive needs. I have come to find out that my whole life I have been eating in a unhealthy way. In fact you could say I have been eating for bad health.

Is this why American's as a whole are more likely to be obese, than other places in the world? Maybe so, in fact I would tend to believe it is one of the leading reasons. But not the only reason.

So a few weeks ago I was chatting with my dietary guru, @thegoddess. And she shared some of her knowledge of diet and the reasons to eat sparingly for the evening meal. Especially the ability to digest the meal before sleep comes. As once we are asleep, our digestive tract doesn't work nearly as hard.

In conclusion, @paradise-found has decided to change the way we eat at our home. We have begun eating our large meal at lunch time, as this is much better for digestion. And have a lighter meal, such as a salad or fruit for the evening meal. I want to thank my very good friend @thegoddess for inspiring this change, and look forward to a healthier life style in the future.

I will probably continue this as a series, as we transition to a healthy diet, with photo's and more information about this change.

Good insight you have there. Why we've learnt in school about the importance of eating a balance diet, no one has actually emphasize on RIGHT eating. A good meal at a wrong time is closely related to poison, I remember eating a delicious meal of Beans 10 p.m one evening. I was scolded by the fiancee who provided details explanation on eating habits. Overall, great jobs. Thanks for raised awareness here..

You are right, they told us in school about the food groups.
But then seemed to let the nation eat for bad health.

I think it is better to not say diet. For some reason that sets us up for failure. If we just say it is a healthier way to eat, then we tend to stick with it.
The saying goes:

'Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar'?

In other words, large breakfast, medium sized lunch and small or light dinner. My son and I have started this tactic and eating healthier foods and so far it has been working. We feel better and we have lost 25 pounds each! Not bad for not dieting!

Good for you!! And that's exactly what I meant we are doing. Not dieting.
Our "diet" is really everything we eat. So my change in our "diet" is when we eat our large meal.
I understand that most people refer to going on a diet as cutting back.

You are not really cutting back that much. What you are doing is shifting the amounts around so that you eat more in the morning and less at night.

Correct, as you did. Obviously trying to make healthy choices as well.
This is healthy eating.

Yes that advice is really great in my opinion because in day time our body tend to stay in active mode and our digestive system will run fast and it can work on heavy things, and same way in the evening or late evening or night dinner sometimes can lead to the digestive issues because our body tend to in more relaxing state. Thanks for sharing.

Wow ot looks like very healthy and delicious dear paradise-found how i wish I can also tell the diet word hahah.. But i am having a hard time in gaining weight..
