Recipe #1: Chocolate-Peppermint Iced Tea
Hello fellow Steemians!
Lately, I have been growing several kinds of mints in my backyard. They're all growing like weeds so I decided it was time to eat them. Today, I will be using my favorite two: Chocolate mint and Peppermint. Of course, if you're not growing mint in your backyard, you can always buy peppermint tea from the store to make this tea.
Yes, it really does taste like chocolate mint! I love it!:
Step 1: harvest enough of each mint to fill a small zip-lock bag:
Step 2: Admire the greenery:
Step 3: Make a little bouquet:
Step 4: Make a face out of the bouquet:
Step 5: Boil water
This is the container I will be steeping the leaves in. I love it because it drains the water if you press on the bottom of the container. It's pretty handy:
Step 6: Place leaves (that have been cleaned and peeled off stems) into boiled water:
This is the first time I've made fresh tea, and it seems like it takes much longer for the leaves to steep. So, I let them steep for about ten minutes:
How many leaves did I use? Well... let's just say I used about 1/2 it's face:
I tasted a little of the tea to make sure it was as minty as I wanted it. Then, I placed it into the fridge. Right next to all the fruit (which is all I've been eating for the past two weeks):
I left it in the fridge until it was chilled and...:
Now, I wish I could say I stopped here and drank a nice and healthy cup of chilled tea...
But, I added soy milk. You can add regular milk to this instead of soy:
I did accidentally add a bit much:
Next, add a little sugar.......:
Yes... just a little...:
Step #?: Add Ice:
Step #?!: Make it pretty for no reason:
Final Step: Enjoy. Look at your empty cup. Look back at the pretty picture. Remember, with sadness and longing in your heart, how you don't have anymore to consume.
Final Final Step: Repeat until satisfied.
Thanks for reading! If you made this tea, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! ᶘ ᵒᴥᵒᶅ
Could you elaborate on Step 2, pleaves?
Absolutely! All you have to do is stand around the tea leaves and take random pictures of them for a minimum of 15 minutes. Once you have enough pretty pictures to post, you can proceed to the next step. Do not skip Step 2 because it will affect the taste of the drink; the tea leaves will be highly displeased if you neglect to give them enough attention. ᶘ ᵒᴥᵒᶅ
Why, thank you very much, that seems to solve my concern satisfactorily.
Now, if only you were to notice my excellent pun up there...
Lol :) I did. xD I just responded in my dry humor >.>............
Oh!
Will keep that in mind from now on. :P
I love chocolate mint and I recently started growing berries and cream mint it makes a great tea also.
Nice! I have other mints also that I'm planning on trying out. Growing berries sounds like a great idea. I just feel like the animals will get at them :(
its actually a variety of mint (berries and cream) I use it to make breakfast tea.
Whaaaat! That's awesome! I knew there were lots of different kinds of mint, but I never heard of berries and cream. Once my pineapple grows more, I want to make a iced pineapple tea with fresh fruit in it.
