Thai food delights : 5 course lunch @Khrua Mae Si Ruean Restaurant

" mae si ruean" means good quality and healthy food from home, each time we come to Bangkok we have a lunch at one of the many branches of this famous restaurant, with his "chicken noodle soup" or "koo tiaw kai". Price are reasonable 80-90 thb for a soup ( 2.5$), quality and service are excellent.

Today we choose to taste the hot, sour and salty "Laab Kai" salad, it's delicious like a firework in your mouth. The ingredients ( can be different in each province) are Chicken (pork or beef), Mint, Coriander, red onions, green onions, chilli, toasted rice mix. For the dressing : Lime juice, Fish sauce, dry chili powder.

Then we go for the MUST TRY "Miang ta krai" a traditional  dishes, one of my favourite thai food snack. Ingredients are betel leaves, coconut, ginger, peanut, lime, chili for the main, then the preparation might changes depending from which province the chef come from :-) . Put all the ingredients in the leaf, wrap and bite !  Yummy ! 

We continue with a fried rice seafood with green curry or "Khao pad talay kiaow wan" to try something new, and result was good , they cook the rice with a green curry paste, adding a little bit of fresh chilli, served with grilled fish, shrimps and squid.

We order the Fish ball noodle soup "koo tiaw look chin pla" which it's light and tasty, you can add dry chilli powder, vinegar or sugar if required, bean sprouts and lime is a must.

To finish we give a try at the fresh spring roll with crab, filled with a mix of carb meat, eggs, vegetables and glass noodles or "woon sen"
