Breakfast at Charlie's Coffee Shop & Bistro - Swellendam, South Africa
Hey Food Lovers!
The quest to satisfy my hunger continues!
With only a few days left of my holiday in the countryside, I am trying to visit and document the flavours of as many little spots as I can!
Today I found myself indulging in a delightful breakfast at a quaint little cafe called Charlie's Coffee Shop & Bistro situated in the centre of the Swellenmark Shopping Mall here in Swellendam, South Africa.
Charlie the friendly chef welcoming you in for a bite!
The environment was clean, quiet and comfortable, with a friendly front of house manager running the show.
There were cool little quirky relics decorating the atmosphere adding to the French Cafe vibe thus upholding it's title as a Bistro.
This explorer ship is one of the oldest ornaments in the cafe and has been sailing the shelves since they opened in 2010
Happy little town mural painted on the wall, seamlessly blending in and adding to the comfort of the environment
Being a vintage hunter and music lover, seeing a wall of records will always be cool, regardless of the lost tunes...
Circular Sounds of the Past
Some sweet words and sweet scents that can't help but leave you smiling...
"Laugh as much as you Breathe, Love as Long as you Live"
The red and white colour scheme made the ambiance feel almost romantic, luckily for me, I was there to do a lil food romancing of my own . . . 🖤
Breakfast is SERVED!
Farmhouse Breakfast served with bacon & boerewors(S.A. name for farmstyle-sausage), two fried eggs, crispy chips with mushroom,roasted-tomato and two slices of toast on the side. I also think the Cappucino came included with the breakfast!
After a day of shopping in the mall, I had worked up quite the hunger and with Mini-Chef Charlie encouraging me there was no stopping the satisfaction.
Succumb to your sweet tooth with their home-baked cake of the day, be it a Chocolate Cheese Cake or a Carrot Cake there is a generous slice waiting for you!
Thanks again for the awesome breakfast, conversation and to starting the day with a smile!

Hello Chef Charlie 😀. He does look quite friendly. First off I love that little sign by the flowers. Also, I must say...wow 2 potato dishes on one plate? French fries and home fries? My kind of place. I love potatoes. Alright well you did get revenge because I haven't eaten yet and yes that made me hungry. Glad you finally got some grub after our ongoing chat about food last night 😂

Nice work on the review, looks like a hearty breakfast although not sure I've ever seen such a skinny sausage before?! We've had some boerewors here in Sydney too but they're usually a bit thicker than that - is that how they all are in South Africa?
Hey @phamished! Thanks for stopping by :P, nah they come in all shapes and sizes, this I guess is a little more digestible as a breakfast add on? Normally if you're just having it straight off the braai, then thicker is better on a fresh roll with some tomato and onion relish! Otherwise just double up on one haha
True that’s a good point I guess the thinner one is easier to eat for breakfast
Haha, I dunno about you, I actually find it a lil tough to discuss this over breakfast hahaha
