A refrigerator that cools without using electricity

in #food7 years ago

What you need is a pot, sand, and water.

Refrigerators are really wonderful. Without a fridge, I can not eat/enjoy cold foods, and the period of preserving food is also very short. It is useless at places where there is no electricity. There is a way to cool things without using electricity in such places. All you need is a pot of terracotta, water, and sand. This device can be cooled as hot and dry as possible. Great! isn't it? There are many people who could imagine the principle just by reading so far.

Things need to be prepare

Two pots with terra cotta with a difference in diameter of 5-8 cm. An Ideal is one without holes for drainage. Also, the one with the smaller glaze is better for those with glaze.

Water. If the smaller pot is glazed on both the outside and the inside, you can also use something that is not drinking water (seawater and so on). 1 bag of sterile sand. To cover the upper part of the smaller pot.

How to make

  • If the drainage hole is empty, close the hole with a cork or similar. Otherwise, the veggies will become drenched.
  • Put appreciate the amount of sand about 3 cm in the larger bowl. When placing a small pot on the sand, make sure the edge of the bowl fits.
  • Place a small bowl in the middle and put sand between the two bowls. You can keep it about 3 cm from the edge.
  • Pour the water from the top of the sand. Please put water in until I do not soak in it anymore.
  • Put the food in a small bowl. Cover the pot with wet linen.

Done! Add water 1 or 2 times a day.
