Crab Legs

We enjoy seafood for dinner now and then. However, my daughter lives a thousand miles from any sea or ocean. The seafood we buy from the stores are frozen or advertised as "previously frozen".

Fresh seafood is best. When you bite into the fish, shrimp or crab there's the wonderful fresh ocean aroma and naturally sweet or pleasant to the palate. We make do with the frozen variety but limit this protein consumption except when it comes to crab legs.

I love crab legs steamed and eaten with a simple dipping sauce of melted good butter and lemon juice. My mouth waters by the thought of dipping the luscious white crabmeat into the sauce. We usually complete this meal with a large plate of Caesar salad.

We have boiled also crab legs the New England style with loads of stuff like spiced sausages, red potatoes, corn, shrimps, squid, lemon and old bay seasoning. This is excellent if we have company because it is just too much food for a small family.

We have tried cooking crab legs in spicy curry. This is my least favourite style of cooking since the crab legs are bought precooked and frozen and the spices somewhat overpower the sweetness of the crabmeat.

Crab legs are pretty expensive. Waste not want not. When we have leftovers, I would conscientiously pick the crabmeat for salad or crab cakes.
