The Best Homemade Pizza Dough
For me growing up, the ultimate comfort food was Pizza! We didn't have a lot of money, but it was always nice on a Friday night to pile in our 1974 Volkswagen Bus and drive to the Video Rental store, rent a movie, and then go a few buildings down to Little Caesar's and get some pizza. Even today I still buy Little Caesars. It is not the best pizza around, but the value is great. I really like Grimaldis, Venezias, and a few others, but honestly nothing beats homemade.
A friend of mine, started making pizzas back when he was in the army, he spent years researching how to make the best pizza dough, and finally came up with this recipe. He has been making it for over 20 years now. I am grateful that he invited me into his kitchen and taught me this amazing recipe. It is my go-to pizza dough recipe.
I still don't own a pizza stone, or have a brick oven, someday. :) But this still works great in a normal kitchen oven. The trick is to have high high heat, and less time in the oven. If you do uses a pizza stone, you will want to heat it up in the oven in advance.
