The Best Smoked Food In Seoul
I don't feel as though I am over exaggerating when I say that. When I visited Seoul a while back, my friend recommended this place by reviews she read online. I was hung over this morning so, I thought nothing would be better than meat, smoked beautiful meat.
Now, I am from the Dakotas, so I know a thing or two about smoking meat. I also worked in a smoke house for the better part of a year. You could say I got paid to rub and pull my meat every day 😉 My friend is also from the Midwest, so together we know what we want.
We were not sure what to expect, in all honesty. American food can be such a mixed bag of results, even if it has American owners. This place is located in Itaewon (이태원) which is the foreign district of Seoul. You can find various restraunts here ranging from American, Romanian, Turkish, to Thai and everything in between. Perhaps in the future I will do my food reviews when I visit this area 😁

The atmosphere was good. Based on the other blog post, not much as changed with the interior or also the menu that they have. They actually use Captain Morgan for their Rum and Cokes!! That seems minor but come to small town Korea and you will find it hard to find good rum. Anyways, let's dig into this food 😋
The Food
As for what we ordered, we got a set meant for three people (we were 2). This included andouille sausage, pork ribs, chicken, apple celery coleslaw, green chili mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes. They also have their own bbq sauce made in house. It was all phenomenal!
The Sausage was seasoned just right, not too much spice but had a nice balance. The ribs were tender and feel off the bone as you bite into them, not just off the bone already (that balance can be hard). Then the chicken. Smoking chicken is touchy for sure. Do it too long and you just get it all dried out, but this chicken was tender and juicy. Also, they have different rubs for their ribs and chicken, most places get lazy and use the same stuff for all their meats. Seeing that they go beyond and treat each meat as its own piece shows a lot of pride in their work and ot turns out heavenly.
The sides were no step down either. Those potatoes were just like what your momma would make back home, creamy and buttery but balanced. Most mashed potatoes in Korea are sweet and instant for some reason, not these! Then that make and cheese, oh brother, real cheese! Baked in cast iron, you don't get better than that and the green chilies adds a kick you don't usually associate with the dish.
All and all, this place was a for sure 10/10 for me. The price may be a bit steep (50$ per person) but worth every penny. The onky let down was that their brisket was not ready for service. That is okay though, it just gives me a reason to come back 😆
