Let´s Have A Cup Of Tea... With Apple Rose Tarts - Quick, Easy & Scrumptious Recipe Included
In a lazy mode, I wouldn´t want to think of any other things to do yesterday (mind you I have plenty of household chores waiting for me!!!). Drinking coffee late afternoon would be a bad habit as I am prone to staying up late in the night that could lead me sleeping only in the wee hours of the morning. ... it suddenly occurred to me that I needed a cup of tea. And so, I thought of making a cup of tea.
It´s almost a ritual in my household to have tea for dinner daily... but since we only take a lighter snack lately, we would eat a little earlier like a sandwich or two at around 5:30 PM then just drink tea at 6:30 PM.
An then, hubby mentioned I could make those apple rose tarts that I did before which go well with the tea. Yeah, I haven´t done the recipe for a long time, why not?! So I quickly went to the kitchen to bake the tarts immediately as I have a tart dough always ready in the fridge in case something gusto might just surface at a click of a finger.... hahaha.
Depending on your needs.... you can have 3 apples if you´re cutting the ready made butter dough into three. It´s basically 2 apples for 6 servings but the portion or sizes are rather small. Below is the easy peasy recipe.
APPLE ROSE TARTS
Ingredients:
1 phylo or tart dough ready made
2 red apples
juice of 1/2 lemon
3 tablespoons marmalade or jam
confectioner´s sugar for toppings
Preparations:
Preheat the oven at 200°C.
Prepare the 2 apples, core removing the seeds.
Slice thinly thereby carefully slice the pieces so as not to break the middle part
Fill a glass container with 1 liter water, add the juice of 1/2 lemon and soak the sliced apples. You can make the apples become softer by putting it in the microwave oven and run it for 2-3 minutes ... Remove in a colander and drain the water. set aside.
Meanwhile prepare the dough and the marmalade.. Here, I used a pear marmalade because it´s the only one I have in my pantry. You can use strawberry or peach flavors. To make the marmalade become more liquid and softer and easy t spread, you may add 1 tablespoon of water and heat it 1 minute in the microwave.
Remove the packaging of the dough and spread it on a floured surface ... If you want a bigger rose tart you would have to cut the dough into 3 parts cutting it lengthwise (the longer side).
Scoop a teaspoon of the marmalade spreading it on the entire surface of the dough and arrange apple slices letting them showing a bit outside the dough ( see photo).
Fold the other half of the dough towards the apples and roll the end up to the other end as in a jelly roll and secure the end by pressing it a bit so it won´t open.
Put each tart in a silicon muffin form and cover the form with an aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes at 200°C or around 390°F. Remove the foil and bake more for 5 minutes so the top of the apples become more brown and crispy. Take out the tarts and let them cool down on a wire rack, sprinkle confectioner´s sugar as toppings..
another yummy sweets.... makes me hungry in the middle of the night while making my watercolor projects. Thanks for posting.
