Best burger joint in Zagreb? Rougemarin, sneak peek - matko-md
I went to my favorite joint again, in a need for comfort. And my dear Steemers, oh did I get it, as glamorous as it gets.
This is "Rougemarin", maybe the best restaurant in Zagreb considering a cost to quality ratio. Burgerwise for sure.
It's a hip, industrial like bistro with a beautiful terrace and calming surroundings settled outside of the strict center. From the distance you could think it's a sports hall, a gym or some kind of a ghost building born in our former country.
But it's not.
When you get comfie you can start scrolling through the thoughtfully made menu and pick your favorite.
Seasonal, fresh high quality ingredients fused into culinary master pieces singed by the Croatian famous chef Marin Medak.
Burgers here are rumored to be the best in the city and the catch is that every week a new baby is born - "The weakly special!" They never reduplicate it. Price of a burger is above average, but I can tell you - it's really really good.
...This week's , let's say... Mr. Corny!
Dunno why do I have to name them...
Beef patty in a homemade bun (half corn, half wheat) on a fresh lettuce and tomato, BBQ aurora sauce, goat cheese, sauteed spicy corn with crunchy pancetta and young potatoes on a side. Boiled before fried.
Burgers here are eaten with a fork and a knife. It reminds me on that Seinfeld episode with George and his Snickers but that's just right way to go.
Weekly special with fried (and pre-boiled) potatoes on a side | |
60 kn (8,1 euro) | amazing as ever |
Burgers aside...
Creativeness, french cooking school and a wide choice of ingredients are their No 1 criterion for a dish to get on a menu list.
I was ambivalent between the guineafowls supreme served with a potato puree and truffle cream followed by a season salad (78 kuna/10.5 euros) and a pork tenderloin with mushrooms and other stuff.
Oh yeah, this is a guineafowl! :)

... and I went for the marinated pork tenderloin on a beetroot and black cumin cream with sauteed mushrooms and green beans sprinkled with an almond and pistachio crumble...
mistake?
Sooo bloody smoothe....no.
This month's tender loin and other goodies | 74 kn (9,9 euro) |
meet is masterfully cooked, cream was glazy, mushrooms full of life and the crumble add an extra dimension. Would prefer a bit more of pistachio maybe. |
Looks like nice place! Must check out ;)
Nova Runda IPA is on my to-do list. Awesome pictures! Is that a new camera? Hope to hear your psychic stories soon, too! ;)
A new camera, si! This lunch was right after the shift. No worries about the material. Will be soon :D
