RE: What Do You Eat Everyday... Is It A Balance Diet?

in #food7 years ago

IMO, dietary advises are very overrated. The distinguishing in low/high carb/fat/protein hasn't changed anything regarding health in the industrial countries. (nevertheless I'm convinced that there is definitely too much sugar consumption!). I think the following points are the most important:

a) eat whatever you want, but keep meat reduced to the recommendations (max. 2x/week). So much data out there supporting the correlation of meat consumption and cancer. Nobel laureate Zur Hausen blames it on the viruses, I suspect vitamin B12 plays a key role.

b) Don't use "chemical" supplements or concentrates; usually, your eating should cover the need for healthy molecules (in starvation, there are only a few circumstances with pronounced clinical effect, and they have been known for decades).

c) If you want to improve whatever performance by reducing weight, calculate the simple way (calories income - calories consumption (sports) will do it, independent of WHICH calories you digest.

d) NEVER EVER believe in some legends or myths regarding dietary stuff. Amygdalin does not work against cancer. Kurkumin probably has to be taken in very high dosages, and even then lacks of evidence. The mediterran diet might have good impact on survival, but cholesterol levels are predicted by the genes, not by the diet.

To come back to topic: I drink milk daily because I love it!

Thanks a lot for this controversial topic!
