Natural handmade yogurt

Greetings fellow steemit, today I bring you a recipe quite simple and very tasty, it is a natural yogurt that although the process is a little slow the truth is that it is very creamy and tasty.

Utensils for this recipe

  • Container with lid for 5 liters or more (can not be made of metal)
  • Manual whisk or electric mixer
  • Measuring cup or weight
  • 2 medium towels
  • 1 Pot with a capacity of 2 liters or more

Ingredients

  • 1 kilo of milk powder (full, semi-skim or skim milk)
  • 225 grams of sugar
  • 1 natural firm yogurt
  • 2 liters of cold water (place the water in the refrigerator at least 4 hours before starting)
  • 2 liters of water room temperature

Preparation

  • Place the two liters of natural water to heat until it reaches boiling point.
    Then while the water is heated put the two liters of cold water in the plastic container, add the sugar and little by little we put the milk powder always stirring so that no lumps are formed.

  • When the milk is fully beaten, we will incorporate the firm yogurt and continue beating. By this point the water should be boiling if it reaches a boil, nothing happens, it should only be removed from the heat and left to rest for a few minutes.

  • We add the hot water to the mixture of the plastic container, beat well and cover it if you see that the mixture is very liquid do not worry.

  • We cover the container well with the towels and we take it to a dark place and that there is no wind (the oven is a good option) we are going to leave the mixture there for 12 hours.

  • After 12 o'clock it is time to take out the yogurt, uncover it and beat again it must have a creamy consistency and at this point you can eat it but it is better to take it to the fridge for about 4 hours more so that it will take better consistency.

Tips

  • They can make half yogurt only by decreasing the ingredients by half.
  • If you do not have a measuring cup with a cup of sugar is enough, if you add two cups nothing happens simply be more sweet in my personal case I like the taste between acid and sweet.
    *You can leave the yogurt 12 hours more in the refrigerator or overnight for the other to take better consistency.
  • If you use electric beater it is important that you place it at the lowest speed to avoid excess foam.
    *It is very important that the yogurt stays warm during the 12 hours that it will be wrapped in towels but it should never be given heat just to cover it so that it maintains what it already has.
