The BEST fish I've ever eaten!!
Our landlord took us to a little restaurant outside of Playa Del Carmen called Le Pe Tita en la Playita, which translates to The Little One at the Beach. Sounds a whole lot cuter in Spanish, doesn't it? :) It's in Puerto Morelas, about 30 minutes from home.
Upon arrival, the first thing I noticed was the amount of cars; always a good sign at a restaurant! We also couldn't have asked for a better day; blue skies, a slight breeze, and an oceanside restaurant.
Here's the view from the restaurant, which literally is on the beach!
There was a tin corrugated roof with some Mexican decorations,
and simple plastic tables and chairs, compliments of Tecate [te-KAW-tay], the beer company and a favorite beer amongst the locals...and me :),
all held together with a lovely thatched roof. So simple! Our feet were in the soft, cool, white sand :)
Upon arrival, we were ushered into the kitchen, and this lovely server opened the big chest cooler to reveal hawkfish, freshly caught that morning, by men with spears; one at a time. No fishing lines whatsoever. She rifled around to find ones that were approximately all the same size for us.
They vary in size, but the price is based on weight. Once we chose our fish, it was placed on the scale behind us, and off we went to our table to wait. Nope, we didn't pick this big guy ... the fish, not Brian ... he's already spoken for :)
And voila! This fish appears to be very happy to have given himself up for us :) It may not look like much, but whatever spices they used, and however they grilled it, this was without a doubt, the best fish I've ever had in my life!!!
How do you know, you ask?... Yep, nearly licked every bone clean! When I saw a restaurant full of locals, picking pieces of the fish up by hand and sucking on it, I happily joined in. (wow, I just re-read that, and if you're head's in the gutter, good on ya! :)
Brian had a spectacular day, but by the time we arrived back home, he was very tired, but said it was all worth the effort. With our bellies full, and eyes a little heavy from the Tecate, Brian had a rest inside, and I decided to have a look at steemit, so my assistant Buddy, decided to join me :)
Apparently he's been eating too much as well :)
Thank you so much for stopping by and enjoying this day with us :)

Reading that made my feet happy! And it really set up a whole different atmosphere when I pictured it. We ate at a few places like that on Koh Samui in Thailand - I wouldn’t even call it casual dining ... more like RELAXED dining. I think it makes the food taste even better!

"Relaxed" dining is it exactly!! The food really does taste better, and now that you mention it, I wonder if my fish would have tasted soooo good served up in a regular restaurant? :)
Thank you so much for stopping by @helenoftroy :)
yummy delicious fish
Indeed that fish looks good! And eating with a view at the ocean is always the best. Viewing and hearing the waves is so good for your appetite 😎
With how many men did they fill that cooler when they catch those fish one by one...!?
But the best you guys had a great day again. Hopefully it ended also with a nice sunset?
Thank you @guchtere! I'm not sure how many men caught those fish, but I've seen one guy in action before, and his cooler was filled in no time; just a random guy on the beach! It's so cool how they do "things" here :)
The sunset was pretty beautiful again ... I just forget to take pictures because I'm so busy enjoying it haha
Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hehe so these fish are an easy catch for those fisherman?
You better enjoy it indeed, but if you think once more at sunset pictures well don't forget to post. I really enjoy them. Loving the colors 😍
Had a great weekend?
There must be plenty of those fish, because apparently, it's easy for the fishermen to catch them, although it's something they've been doing for years, so I'm guessing it wouldn't be so easy for you or I ;)
My weekend was very good! Thanks! Hope you had a good one too?
Well maybe you will be even better at it than I would be. Fishing... what I remember from being a kid, I couldn't fish at all 🤣
Good to hear you had a great weekend! Mine was great to, did ride the MTB and tried to make the world a better place (a little bit)
Sounds like a great adventure. How did you hear about the restaurant?
The best fish of your life sounds like it was pretty good. I'll have to check it out if I come over there.
Buddy looks so happy and peaceful as he's stuffed into the desk. Good for him for eating until he's full. Some cats go without. :P
Oh my gosh I somehow missed responding to you! Geez ... my bad buddy :)
Our landlord took us; it was a place that Brian and I would never have found on our own. He (landlord) swears it's the best fish in town :)
Buddy's in heaven here too I think :) And food makes him happy, so I say "eat up". Too many cats go without :P
No worries. Comments get lost easily here. I wasn't upset.
I'm glad you're getting out and finding new places to eat. Apparently the new place/new landlord is paying all sorts of dividends.
Glad you had another wonderful day @lynncoyle1. Fresh fish, by the sea with a gentle breeze. Pretty perfect I'd say.
Could you hear the sound of the waves too> 😊
I forgot to add that in, but yes, the sound of the water, gently lapping at the shore :) How's that?!
edit: Hey! You made 60 :) Did I miss that some time ago?
That's perfect now @lynnecoyle! 😁
I made 60 about a month ago I think and then lost it pretty instantly with the Steem Cleaners Debacle. Then got it back when they removed the flag. But that was a big contribution to reduction of my time here.
I'm actually playing around with the Steem Monsters thing at the moment and enjoying it because it's all completely new to me. 😁
curious now... what debacle was that?
I'm with you @guchtere!
@gillianpearce! I didn't know about the whole "flag" thing! I'm curious for details.
I've not looked into steemmonsters yet; probably should. I know you tend to get bored with things, so something new like that keeps you here ;)
I'm surprised you missed the whole "flag" thing @lynncoyle1. It was very upsetting at the time so I don't really want to drag it all up again.
If you look at my post about the thanka painters you will see where it all began, but it carried on in various Discord channels and was very unpleasant.
It made me take a big step back from Steemit and I have not changed my mind on that.
As you say, just the fact that Steem Monsters is new, is a big plus for me. it's not really my thing though so I'm not sure how long my interest will last.
Some people have already spent thousands of dollars on cards and the game hasn't even started yet.
As an outsider it all seem to be getting a little bit out of control but we shall see. 😁
no need to dredge it up @gillianpearce!
I know! I just can't seem to get into the whole thing, but I hear you in terms of it appearing "out of control". We shall see indeed :)
Looks so delicious fish is my favourite and i love before and after photo lol, bon appetit and i wish all your days be happy, regards.
Thank you so much @injiskitchen! haha you can tell I enjoyed my meal :)
I really appreciate you stopping by too!!
I bet it was also the freshes fish you ever had :-) What a wonderful place to eat... under palms and to see the sea.
hahaha it was, except for when I was a kid and we caught fish to eat :) But since I've been an adult, I've not had anything fresher :)
Thank you for reading and commenting @avizor!!
Me gusta mucho el pescado, es tradición cuando voy a la playa.
It's so delicious, isn't it @domiwla :)
