You guessed it just right: what smile? Russians never smile and it's a well known fact! That's why traditional Russian pelmeni (dumplings of Russian cuisine that have beef/porc filling wrapped in thin dough) wouldn't have any smile at all. But not the ones I bought today).

The package gave it all up - these pelmeni are really cheerful)
