Mini Lamb Gyros!
Hi Steemians! I made a quick and delicious dinner and I would like to share my recipe with you. I wanted to do something different, and my boyfriend had a long week so I wanted to make something special. I was tired of chicken and beef, so lamb seemed like a great choice, and my boyfriend also loves my tzitziki sauce, so mini gyros sounded like a winner!
This dinner is super simple! First you have to prepare you lamb. I had a butterflied leg of lamb with the bone removed. I rinsed it clean and dried it very well with a paper towel, then I rubbed it with olive oil. I then seasoned it well with garlic powder and Greek seasoning and placed the lamb in the smoker for about 45 minutes. After the meat had soaked up all the smoke flavor, I turned up the heat to get a nice crispy brown charr on it, and when the internal temp hit 165* F it was ready to pull off the grill! I let the meat rest for about 10 minutes and sliced it into thin, bite sized chunks. That’s all. Super easy, right?
While the lamb was grilling, I cut all my veggies up and made the tzitziki sauce. Tzitziki is very simple, and it tastes even better if you make it a day or two ahead of time and let the flavors really develop. For my tzitziki I chopped a half of an English cucumber into very small pieces. I mixed that with about a cup to a cup and a half of Greek yogurt. Then I added a handful of fresh dill sprigs, a couple turns of freshly ground pepper, juice from half of a lemon, and a pinch of garlic powder. You can add a dash of chili pepper if you want a little zip. When the sauce was all mixed together I topped it with fresh mint. So good, and so refreshing!
I was going for a build-your-own style of gyro, so I sliced all of my veggies up and just put them on one plate. What a beautiful collection of colors!
Lastly, I sliced a block of feta and arranged all the plates on the table for our delicious dinner!
This is a delicious dinner that seems very involved but it is actually quite simple. I made this meal for us during a weeknight! I hope you all enjoy making this dinner as much as I did. Perhaps you will make this to surprise your sweetheart for Valentine’s Day! Thank you all for stopping by to take a look!

I honestly don’t remember, cause I bought other things when I went shopping. When I stop by the store in a couple days I will go check and tell you! It’s interesting to comparing how much food is. I honestly feel like its pretty expensive here. @killythirsk

In our region for 3 USD you could eat 3 times a day so if i buy lamb meat for my family that will mean almost 4 days of food for one person.
