Recipes of Spain: Asturian Tortos

in #food7 years ago (edited)

I really love food and my country has many little-known recipes that you may want to try!

Today I'll teach you how to prepare a traditional dish of my beloved Asturias region: tortos de maíz (corn tortos). It's typical of the season of Antroxu (Carnival). It's a very simple dish and it goes with everything, either sweet or salty.

We can find tortos with the following ingredients:

• Picadillo and fried eggs
• Cheese and apple jelly
• Foie gras
• Serrano ham and chorizo
• Asturian blood sausage scramble
• Coffee with milk or chocolate
• Jam

INGREDIENTS:

• 600 grams of corn flour
• 200 grams of wheat flour
• Lukewarm water
• Olive oil
• 1 teaspoon of salt

PREPARATION:

In a bowl, mix the salt, the corn flour and the wheat flour. Slowly add enough water to get a compact mass. Leave to stand for one hour in the fridge.

Once the dough has rested, divide it into little balls and crush them with the palm of your hand. The dough should become thin.

It's time to fry the tortos! Put plenty of oil in the pan. When it is very hot, fry the tortos one at a time until golden on both sides.

Now that you've cooked the tortos, it's time to put whatever you want on top of them!

¡Buen provecho! ;)
