Facts About American Food
I've decided to collect some facts about American food Vs Canadian food after traveling through the USA.
- The portion is huge.
In Canada, all portion of the meal is big, in USA (I am not talking about Cities such as New York or LA and some fancy restaurants), but in the regular cafe you can order the entree and share it between 2 people.
Do I have any Americans here? Any thoughts about it? I would appreciate your opinion.
I remember myself traveling in Cyprus - they also have a habit to bring with the main course as a side dish everything: potatoes, rice, vegetables (fresh or fried) and everything on the same plate. When I've asked the waiter the reason for bringing so much food, which nobody can finish, they told me, that the main cost in the price calculates from the labor cooking the dish. For them technically it doesn't matter how much side dishes they would put on the plate, because it wouldn't change the final cost significantly. But the client would be more happy and satisfied to get the meal with the huge portions and the great variety of side dishes (I hope the idea makes sense).
- They usually are asking about drinks before you had a chance to take a look at the menu. People usually know what they wanna drink, so they need the menu to decide what are they going to eat, not to drink.

When I got this salad - I was laughing and couldn't stop to do it. I couldn't finish it - the portion was insane, the whole family might have it for dinner whole week =)

Now, that's truly an interesting post and the huge portions are definitely mouth watering, so either one is so damn hungry or you gotta be "Adam Richman" !!! :) LOL.
With the changing times, frequent eating habits and while traveling its wise to order small portions to relish different varieties, cuisines and even the street food. Though its better to stick to fruits n salads. Cheers.

I know, that's why I love tapas - great chance to try different things, but sometimes you just don't have such option!
Yeah portions are huge. I think its like you bring up. Easy way to make people feel they are getting a value. When traveling, I like to try and find what the locals are eating and try it. And its fun to be in a big group so you can order lots of different things.
yeah, but the problem is that you are with your partner and want to try different things, but can order just two dishes, otherwise, you can't finish everything. I love the idea of getting tapas - the small portion of different appetizers.
I'm an American that works at a restaurant and yes most of the portions are quite generous! The restaurant is easily accessible for tourists so I've seen a wide variety of reactions from people from all over who didn't expect so much food.
cool! for sure, it's better to get a bigger portion and eat a half instead of getting nothing on the French fancy restaurant and go to McDonald's to finish your dinner =)
When i travel .. i use to keep Cadbury Fuse chocolate, as Fuse has nuts in it nd it is nutritious plus energetic ..
Nd for food i prefer to see the ratings nd reviews of a restaurant or café on Google .. if it is qualitative and appropriate place for me then enter that place nd see the menu .. if i find a something different stuff in a menu .. i definitely go for it nd try some different taste .. mostly i hv choices for desserts .. 🤓
