The Frangipane King's Pie

in #food8 years ago

On the 6th of January some people still celebrate Three King's Day or Epiphany. It's a Christian holiday, that I never really celebrated, but I heard of it. I got to know the famous pie because of my work.
So there are three types of King's pie and frangipane is one of them. The pie is basically puff pastry and frangipane. The fun part is, the bakers put a trinket in it. It used to be a dried bean but now you find a little ceramic object.
When you buy the pie, you get a crown with it. If you get the slice with the 'bean' then you are the king/queen and gets to wear the crown ;)

I personally really love this pie because I'm such a fan of puff pastry. I'm planning on trying to make it myself one day !
If you want to make this pie, you can easily buy puff pastry at the store.
