Gingerbread cookies Xmas trees recipe

Just an idea of how to arrange your gingerbread cookies this Xmas.  

Bake thin, star shaped cookies of different sizes with a hole in the middle. The hole should be large enough to later fit in a bamboo skewer. When cookies cool down take a bamboo skewer and thread it through the hole in gingerbread cookies starting form the largest finishing at the smallest. You can follow the recipe below or use any other you like.

Ingredients:

  • 300 mL (10 ounce) of honey
  • 400 g (14.1 ounce) of sugar
  • 350 g (12.3 ounce) of butter
  • 300 mL (10 ounce) of double cream or whipping cream
  • 1.5 tbs dry ginger
  • 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs) flour
  • 1.5 tbs ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbs ground cloves
  • 1 tbs baking powder
  • 1 tbs of water

Steps:

Mix butter with honey, sugar and spices. Whip cream and slowly add it to the butter and honey mix. Dissolve baking powder in water and add it to the dough. Then slowly add flour and knead the dough. When everything is well combined wrap the dough in a plastic wrap and leave it in the fridge overnight. Next day roll out dough very thinly and cut desired shapes. Bake in the preheated oven at 175 oC (350 F) for 10-15 minutes.
