Going cashless at the BNM canteen

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) is the central bank of Malaysia.

Recently I had the chance to visit BNM to accompany some clients. They had been called for questioning by the enforcement department.

Here I am, at the central bank.

It's one of the oldest institutions in Malaysia and is tasked with the duty of regulating the monetary supply of the country.

Money, as you know, is important. It's almost safe to say that you need money to survive, unless you live in the jungles and you can hunt wild animals.

From a national perspective, money laundering puts the monetary system at risk. Fake money is also dangerous as it undermines the monetary supply.

So, there I was, waiting for my clients. And then I felt hungry. At first, I decided to wait for them.

But after waiting for more than one hour, I decided that I could not wait.

I had to go for food. I found my way to the canteen.

It's a nice place.

There's a prominently placed sign that says smoking is prohibited.

Recently, Malaysia made smoking at a table illegal. You'll have to be 3 feet away from a table to smoke legally.

It's probably healthier for the non-smokers. I've heard of non-smokers who were diagnosed with lung cancer. One of them was my ex-staff, Mr Teoh. He passed away last year.

I decided that I wanted to eat noodles. One of the stalls was manned by a nice old lady. Here's the stall.

They don't accept cash.

Instead, they request payment by ewallet.
