Banana Cake Delight

in #food9 years ago
Hello there Steemit friends!

Every member in my family loves banana, I guess all types of banana at that. From boiled banana, banana chips, pinaypay, banana cue , banana cake down to the ready-to-eat ones in the market. In fact, we grow banana plants in our back yard courtesy of my late grandma who loves homesteading. There were a few left at the vacant area at the back of our house, but it hasn't grow fruits anymore for the longest time, because that area is always being flooded whenever the rain comes.

And while I love banana dishes, I know how to cook a few like boiled, or even the fried one with flour as well as chips and banana cue. However, I have not tried baking a banana cake ever. So, this recipe that I will share is not from me, but from my mother. She shared this to me when after she posted this on her facebook account. Before that, let's have a little trivia about bananas first.

Banana Facts

Bananas are produced from many types of herbaceous flowering plants in the genus MUSA. Bananas are edible fruits. They vary in color, size and firmness. Bananas have soft flesh covered with different colors of rind, such as yellow, green, purple, red or brown.

They are curved and elongated. They grow hanging from the top of the plant, and they grow in clusters.

Banana plants are mostly mistaken as trees, however, banana plants are the largest herbaceous flowering plant. (article source)

That One Banana Dish

Here's one banana dish that my mom related to me, but I have not tried cooking this yet. She shared the recipe to me after I asked her how was it done.

She gave out this list of ingredients: 1 and 1/2 cup flour, 1 cup mashed banana,1 cup sugar, 1/2 vanilla, 1 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. baking soda, 2 pcs. raw eggs, 1/2 cup cooking oil.

Simply combine all the ingredients thoroughly. Put the mixed ingredients in the baking pan. Bake in 350 degrees, for about an hour, or until it becomes brown.

TADA! Here's my mother's banana cake.

I hope that your banana plants produce well in the future. Has that area always flooded or has something changed to cause that area to flood?

as far as I can remember, when I was younger it has not been flooded. Also, I guess this area has not been taken care of because we have been busy with work and other stuff. I think the unwanted grasses have been a factor as well.

A great recipe, I will save it) Thank you for sharing it, follow you)

Thank you @kristinaljfom. Followed you too. :)
