Healthy “Shots” You Should Be Throwing Back This Summer
Wheatgrass Shot
One shot of wheatgrass = 2 pounds of greens.
The average person should eat 2-2 ½ vegetables every single day. That’s a lot when you think about it! And if we all stop and be honest with ourselves, we can agree on the fact that we don’t consume that many greens a day. But we should. And we easily can by taking a shot of wheatgrass. These shots contain Vitamins A, B-Complex, C, E, I and K. And did I mention these shots have protein, too? Sounds pretty amazing, huh? Well, there’s a catch. Wheatgrass shots don’t taste very good at all, so make sure you throw this one back very quickly (maybe even plug your nose while doing so). Here’s a recipe:
Ingredients:
4 oz fresh wheatgrass
12 oz fresh pineapple (peeled and cored)
Directions:
Wash wheatgrass carefully, but thoroughly, then spread out on paper towels to dry.
Cut pineapple up into uniform pieces that will easily pass through the juicer.
Juiced pineapple should yield at least 1 cup of juice.
Remove froth from the top of pineapple juice then pour into a container and set aside.
Dab the rest of the water off the wheatgrass, then grab bunches and cut into 1-inch pieces.
Feed wheatgrass into the juicer, bunch by bunch.
It may take some time, and your juicer will likely make a strange high-pitched noise, but be patient, the juice will appear.
Continue juicing wheatgrass until all is complete.
Remove froth from the top of wheatgrass juice and pour into a small jug.
Add 3 parts of pineapple juice to wheatgrass juice and stir.
Pour equal amounts of mixed juice into shot glasses, you should be just shy of filling each glass.
Top with the balance of the pineapple juice then serve.
