The best quality Talaba from the plantation of Hinigaran City Negros Occidental!!
Hello everyone!!
Before we discuss the Hinigaran plantation let me tell you something about the " Talaba " .
"Talaba " is a Hiligaynon term it is called oyster in English and for further understanding.
Here is a brief description from Wikepedia.com not my own writing composition.
Talaba/Oyster is the common name for a number of different families of salt-water bivalve mollusks that live in marine or brackish habitats. In some species the valves are highly calcified, and many are somewhat irregular in shape. Many, but not all, oysters are in the superfamily Ostreoidea.

Because the city is an access road going to the south many commuters dropped their to buy " Talaba ". Where the vendors are visible after the Senator Esperidion Guanco Bridge if you came from the North portion of Negros.
" Talaba " can be eaten raw by making it as " Kilaw " mixed it with vinegar and other spices like ginger. You can also buy readily cooked by means of boiling water.

Mode of buying is per " Tumpok " or one pile on a medium plate that cost 20.00 pesos.
What I can suggest if you're not in a hurry you can buy from direct suppliers. Which is less cost compare to those vendor selling on the highway.
You can ask some nearby residents, promise you can buy " Talaba " in cheaper price. Don't worry people know already whom they can suggest where you can buy.
Take note : The availability of " Talaba " are mostly early in the morning, so if you want to catch up the production and disposal of harvested " Talaba " just come earlier. Or else the first option suits to you, which is to buy from the side walk vendor.
The empty shells are collected by vendors then return it within the plantation.
They have to wait for several days before they can harvest and ready for pullout from the field for selling.
The only season where the production of " Talaba " is very slow. That is during the rainy days, because according to some residents that raising " Talaba " . The fast current of water affects the process of production.
If you're a person who loves to eat oysters and other sea shells. Hinigaran is one of the perfect place that can satisfy your desire like the all time favorite of people which is the " Talaba ".
