DRIED FISH FROM PHILIPPINES

Drying fish is a method practiced by ancient times to preserve foods. Drying under the sun to remove water and blood from the fish which inhibits the growth of any microorganism that may cause the fish to be damage. Blood and water removed by evaporation through the sun, air, smoke and wind. Drying food is the world's oldest known preservation method, and dried fish has a storage life of several years. The method is cheap and effective in suitable climates; the work can be done by the fisherman and family, and the resulting product is easily transported to market

Introducing my very own breakfast this morning, "Fried Dried Fish"

I sometimes crave for this 😩 actually because of its saltiness and crispiness. Some other Filipinos out in the Philippines do crave for bulad here in the Philippines. Maybe some other countries may have but not that in the same taste. There are a many kinds of bulad like dried fish and dried squid. Some do the same process in making dried mangoes, see weeds as chips and many others.

These are some of the Historical Photos I found in the wikipedia;

Its amazing to know how bulad was being made and process. Todays generation because of advanced teachnology we have, many of us do not practice this kind of method anymore. Only for market.

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you learned something.
