HOT DOG CART HOT DOGS

Have you ever had a hot dog from one of those little hot dogs carts? You know the ones, you see them in the movies, on street corners, you hear people talk about them and how good those steamed dogs are. You may even hear the word "DIRTY WATER" when you hear someone talking about boiled hot dogs off a cart. Now the water isn't actually dirty, however, it is a term we "hot doggers" like to use to describe our secret water recipe and how we get our dogs to taste so good. I am about to tell you a secret, are you ready? Here it is, you can have your very own secret water recipe and be the envy of everyone when you cook your awesome one of a kind dogs.

Start with a good quality hot dog, some slingers say it doesn't matter what brand you use, some say it doesn't even matter if it is all beef or chicken lips. I will have to disagree, a good hot dog cart hot dog is not only about the taste but also the texture. We use Nathan's all beef dogs on our cart because it has an awesome texture, it is all beef which is what our customers want, and it just flat taste good. There are many good hot dogs out there so grab a few different ones and do a taste test, but only after you get your water ready.

The water. as long as your water is of good quality, and what I mean is it starts out clear and no funny taste or chemicals you have a good start to your very own "dirty water". Why do you want to use dirty water? Well, I will tell you, because the hot dog will retain its flavor and will set you apart from all other slingers. There are as many different recipes for dirty water as there are hot dog slingers so I will give you a few ideas and also tell you what we use. It doesn't matter if you use sweet, sour, hot, spicy, mild, liquid, powder, solids like a whole onion as long as it is something you like. Add whatever flavor or seasoning you would like to your water, cook your dogs and they will soak up some of the flavorings you have added as well as retain the original flavor from the dog. Leaving you with an awesome one of a kind dog. Some things slingers like to use is garlic, beer, salt & pepper, peppers & onions, hot sauce, fruits for that tropical taste, juices, etc. There are so many different combinations you can use so just experiment and have fun. I said I would tell you what we use so here goes, beef bouillon cubes, jerk seasoning, or liquid smoke, they all make excellent dogs and people just smile when they take a bite because they know they have just experienced the best hot dog around.
