Brands failed in india

in #food8 years ago

India has emerged as a new potential market for business. Every day a new player is entering in the market and launching there products. Due to tremendous supply of product and steady demand, many of the products have failed in Indian market despite being a hit in overseas. Few of them i can recall are:-

1 Lays- Lays tried to en cash the Indian love for spices as they launched line of spicy potato chips under the brand name “ chaat street” and max, but failed miserably to catch the eye of Indian consumers.

2 Pepsi blue- During world cup tournament, Pepsi tried to manipulate the devotion of cricket fans by launching “Pepsi blue”, the colour of drink was blue in accordance with the jersey colour of team India, but it completely backfired as Indian thought the colour resembles with the colour of kerosene and people instantly rejected it. It was a big marketing failure on company’s behalf.

3 Skeletoes- In my opinion, skeletoes are the most weird looking piece of footwear ever built, its not only awkward to wear it as i gives a feeling of Big foot, also its quite expensive for a weird looking shoe and for similar reasons it was a massive failure.

4 Maggi dal atta noodles- In 2006 maggi launched something that was every Indian child’s nightmare. I mean we eat maggi beacause its tasty and spice, not because it should taste like daal and sambhar. Hence it was rejected by Indian maggi lovers.
