I just read an article about a growing business in China that will blow you away.

Apparently in China they have found a way to get rid of 15 tonnes of food waste in a single day. Keep in mind there are billions of people in China so you can just imagine the nightmare it is to manage the waste these people generate. Thankfully, I guess, China is a big country but it does have heavily populated areas too so there is obviously a large concentration of waste that has to be dealt with.

Not only are they using cockroaches to dispose of food waste but they are feeding fish with them, extracting essence oils from dead cockroaches, creating medicinal powders from the molted cockroaches and many other things are in store for these cockroaches. I'm personally not quite ready to partake in eating one of these pests but this is also being considered by the Chinese.

The story reminds me of "Soylent Green" in a way.
