Trying Out Baked Macaroni
I am craving for baked macaroni recently and I wanted to try to make one for us. Homemade one is better than the ones being bought. At first, I wanted to make spaghetti too, and the sauce would be used for baked macaroni too.
Here's how I made baked macaroni.
First, I cooked the macaroni by following the instruction provided on the product package. I used Royal Elbow Macaroni because it doesn't overcook, and remains al dente even exceeding the time.
Mix the pasta sauce on the macaroni, and set aside.
The pasta sauce ingredients can be found here.
White sauce
Time to cook the white sauce. Here are the ingredients:
- All-purpose cream (I used Nestle Cream)
- Evaporated milk
- Butter
- Flour
Procedure:
Melt the butter in the pan.
Pour the evaporated milk, and stir.
*Pour the all-purpose cream.
Keep stirring until the mixture is done.
Dissolve flour with water. This will help to thicken the white sauce.
After cooking the white sauce, spread out the macaroni and sauce mixture in a baking pan.
I actually cannot find a small baking pan from the supermarket. I only use an oven toaster, not the big oven so I need a small baking pan. I borrowed from my sister but it won't fit in the oven. We have an aluminum and disposable baking pan, I cut it in half, and just shaped the cut ones to make two corners, and it worked.
Pour the white sauce on the macaroni pasta mixture.
Spread out the cheese on top, and bake it in the oven. I baked it at 4 minutes twice. I did not bake it straight 8 minutes because it will burn. Meanwhile, I use Kraft Eden Melt Cheese.
Here's the result. So far, it tastes good. That's good enough for a first timer baking this. Bon Appétit!
