Strawberry Shortcake cupcakes and an insect/bug birthday cake for a boy named Coop

Well if you like strawberry shortcake, then this image is bound to catch your eye. It is a cupcake itself that is made of something more pound cake like, as compared to the traditional cupcake cake style texture. The icing may as well be whipped cream even though it is actually not. It tastes like whipped cream, but better, if that's possible. I would be pretty pleased to have a batch of these every few weeks.

I have to admit that I've never seen something like this done up before. If people find the look of large bugs on their cake appealing, well then, to each his own....It is a creative piece of art nonetheless. I don't think I need to say that the bugs aren't real, do I? It is a pretty nice frosting and decorating job aside from the large insect props. The attention to detail is far nicer than any birthday cake I ever got when I was age 3! I don't even know if my parents got my cakes from a bakery, for that matter.
