One of my clients as a content writer is Pangara, a recruitment firm specialising in IT positions. They had a huge dinner to say thanks to their employees and freelancers on Friday night and very kindly invited me. The dinner was held at the Cong Ga Trong Restaurant in the centre of town and what a feast it turned out to be.

We started with a gorgeous beef salad which was seasoned beautifully. Everyone cleaned the bowls of this beauty.

Next up was a sliced pork dish. Again this was beautifully prepared and cooked to tender perfection.

The fish dish was a whole deep fried fish accompanied by greens, rice paper, noodles and fish sauce. The idea is to make up your own fresh spring rolls then dip them in the fish sauce. I am not the greatest fan of fish sauce so I just ate the fish. Surprisingly in one way, most of the Vietnamese did the same. Unsurprising in another way as the fish was utterly delicious and great to just eat on its own.

The barbecued prawns were the usual high standard that one gets over here and went down very well.

Last of the savoury dishes was a sour hot pot. I have had this a few times and never enjoyed it, but this was amazing. So full of flavour and the sour balance was perfect.

At the end of the meal there was fresh fruit and it was free flow beer all night. A truly great evening thanks to Pangara and the Cong Ga Trong Restaurant. Good times.

Vietnamese food and Thai food don't look the same. Well have same products, but in a different style. I'm always scared to eat fish like that. I ate it once and it was so bad I haven't touched one since in Thailand.
