How to make "Bororom" Acehnese Traditional Ball Cake

Traditional cake is already in Aceh since tens of years ago, usually made when the feast, and now has been traded in coffee shops and traditional markets. Cakes made from flour with a sweet taste is very suitable to accompany you when enjoying the atmosphere of the afternoon, and when guests come to your home. I recently made this cake to welcome my brother in law who would meet, he comes from far away.

And now I have to provide the recipe.


  • Glutinous rice flour = 250 gr
  • Brown sugar = 200 gr (be shredded)
  • Pandan leaf = 10 (blender and take the juice only)
  • Salt to taste
  • Warm water
  • Branch water

How to make are, first of all, you take glutinous rice flour and enter it into a large bowl, pour the warm water slowly into it (to taste), while you stir, then add ordinary water, also carried out slowly, add the juice of pandanus, while you stir, until the dough becomes smooth and can be formed into spheres.

Then you prepare brown sugar that has been shredded before, put in a dish, you are easy to pick up, when you form a dough.

Now, let us form the dots, using only hand, this stage only requires the skill to form a circle, and really is round, like a ball.

See how I shape it, you can do this, place the dough into the palm of your hand, and lempengkan, then take 1 teaspoon of brown sugar, and place on a slab of dough.

After shards of brown sugar is above the slab of dough, it's time to round up, so that the dough covered with brown sugar completely, not to leak, as this will remove the contents when we boiled it later. When finished, put all the balls cake "bororom" into a dish.
