Fish was even free from those fishermen that passes by the school where my parents taught before. Chicken were just caught in the backyard when we feel like it. As for meat, we only have them whenever a neighbor decides to sell from their own cattle or piggery.
Yes, meat was more expensive.
Few years back, vegetables were more expensive than meat too. Where cooking pinakbet was more expensive than adobo ;)
