Green Bean Cake 绿豆糕

The Dragon Boat Festival is coming. It is one of three major Chinese holidays, along with the Spring and Moon Festivals. There is the customs of eating Zongzi, green bean cake, drinking yellow wine, and racing dragon-boat on that day in some area. So today I'd like to share with you the green bean cake that Chinese people often eat in the holiday to ensure our body is safe and healthy in ancient times. It is a very cool and sweet dessert snacks in China, hope you like it.
Now let's look at it

Ingredients:

green beans 200 g
honey 2 tbs
sugar 2 tbs
vegetable oil 2 tbs

Instructions:

wash greenbeans and soak it in a large bowl for 5-6 hours, make it absorb water fully until it expand, you can crumb it easily.
drain it and place the large bowl in a steamer to cook it for 30 minutes until it cooked and soft.

cool it and squash it or beat it in a food professor if you have.
Heat a non-sticky frying pan, add some vegetable oil, and then add the green beans, stir and fry it, add honey and sugar, go on frying until it was really sticky and sugary. turn off the heat. set aside.
divide it into many small equal shares and use your hand to form some small balls, take one ball carefully into the mould, gently press it, the green bean cake is finished.

Serve with your favorite fruit juice or some tea, enjoy it in a nice day !

If you couldn't eat it all, you can put it in a store it in a freezer for 2-3 days.

绿豆糕:
绿豆糕相传为中国古代,人民在端午节时,为寻求身体平安健康,除了吃粽子外,还要喝雄黄酒、吃绿豆糕和咸鸭蛋这三种凉性食物,可以避免因为夏至到来所带来的褥夏的疾病。

做法:
1、脱皮绿豆洗净,浸泡半天。
2、沥干水分,上锅直接蒸30分钟。
3、蒸好的绿豆,按压成泥。我用食品机打碎的。
4、不粘锅放少许植物油,绿豆泥放入锅中,小火炒5分钟。加入蜂蜜和白糖,继续翻炒5分钟,至有点粘性状态即可。
5、取出凉凉,分割成若干份,撮成球状。用磨具按压出花纹即可食用。
吃不完的可密封保存冷藏2-3天。

This is similar to the 'hwagwaja' in Korea. ^^

Cool recipe! Do you eat them at any special time during the day? Is breakfast ok? They look good for breakfast.

I think there is a small translation difference. Green beans in America are 四季豆 and I believe what you are using we call mung beans or 绿豆.
