Nutrition is a battlefield that everyone throws their opinions and studies done, but not all of them deserve to be overlooked. This is also the case with the much-loved alkaline waters that are popular today, but without a scientific foundation to prove its benefits.

We have debated the problem of bottled water, too expensive, and whose price is not worth it, but this time we focus on the alkaline water and the many benefits that it brings. How much of what studies and large companies support is true and how is a myth designed to draw attention to buyers?

Many studies claim that alkaline water has miraculous properties and that it moisturizes your body much better, with its composition being beneficial to calcium, magnesium, and magnesium, which supports the body's well-being, being involved in a number of processes (Digestion, neutralization, hydration). Unfortunately, none of these effects is proven by science, and that's because most studies are made on mice, worms or a small number of people, Gizmodo notes. So our initial question is relevant - Is alkaline water beneficial or is it just a juice enjoyed by wealthy people?

Alkaline water: How we identify it

Alkaline water can be identified based on its pH, which should be at least 7, preferably as close to 8. For each number with which the pH increases, the number of hydrogen ions it contains also decreases. This result is achieved either by ionization or by the addition of substances such as lemon salt or sodium bicarbonate.

Alkalinity is already a fairly popular word in the community of caregivers, and they claim that certain diets can make the pH in the body more alkaline. This is not necessary. Your body does not need this change and does not want to change its pH while trying to maintain its homestay. If these internal properties change, they signal a problem in the body.

Scientific studies fail to elucidate the mystery of alkaline water, but it emphasizes the possibility that it is more moisturizing to the body. Hydration is measured by blood coagulation testing, a less viscous blood indicating greater hydration of the body. Researchers analyzed the effects of alkaline water consumption on normal water and showed that alkaline water seems to hydrate the body more than two hours after consumption. We do not want to be skeptical, but we have to look at the facts, and the issue of this study has been paid by an alkaline water company (Essentia).

Let's consider regular water first. Drinking at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water every day is important to our overall health. More than fifty percent of our bodies are made of water, and staying properly hydrated is essential to every bodily function.
If you think about it, regular old water is practically a miracle drink. It keeps our bodies hydrated, and it's calorie-free!
According to Water.org, 750 million people around the world lack access to safe water -- approximately one in nine people. So, first let's appreciate our access to safe water.

If you still believe in the benefits of alkaline water, there is a recipe that circulates on the internet and you can easily do it at home, not at all costly. The only ingredients you need are sodium bicarbonate and lemon salt.

I think this is quite risky since the body need acidity to protect against bacteria and digest food. As long as you get the recommended dose of the alkalized minerals sodium, magnesium, calcium and potassium you should go for slightly acidic drinks, like some water with apple cider vinegar or lemon juice.

Wow, just add a teaspoon of baking soda to your water filter.

Sometimes i make tea with Artesian Water ( water from deep underground in Queensland, Australia ) which is quite alkaline. It tends to draw more flavour out of the tea leaves and it tastes great. Try this and see if you get the same result.
