A Story About The Truely Beautiful "Lentil As Anything" Community and Family.

Hey guys!

So I said I wanted to create a post specifically about the magical space that is called “Lentil As Anything.”

Im not sure if any of you would have heard of anything quite like this place…so read on if you are intrigued!

Imagine a place where anyone and everyone is welcome, where someone who is really struggling in this life financially and the “successful” business man sit at the same table and share a meal together as total equals. Where community and creating a safe space is the highest priority.

Every day for lunch and dinner the volunteers at Lentil As Anything open their doors for all to come in share a meal. 5-6 amazingly flavourful and homestyle meals are written on the wall for lunch and then wiped away and a new menu is written up for dinner time.

" We are Lentil as Anything.

At our core are our not-for-profit vegetarian restaurants, where guests contribute what they feel their meal and experience is worth, according to their own financial ability.

Lentil as Anything was established in 2000 and continues to support our community everyday by;
Caring for people: Providing a wholesome and nutritious meal where money is not a concern.
Promoting Multiculturalism: Fostering an environment of inclusion
Reforming Society: Acting on the structures of society to restore justice.
Extending and spreading it’s ethos and values: Hiring volunteers, the long-term unemployed and the marginalised.
Encouraging: Young people to be active citizens and get involved in community based initiatives

What do we do?

Lentil’s main function is to provide food without borders - without borders of cash value, race or socioeconomic status.

We also seek to remove the borders in our community - to bring people together over plates of food to share their stories with each other. The contributions we receive from everyone who has been to our restaurants are a testament to the generosity of the community. "

And where do their donations go? Straight back into the place!

Guys I can’t actually express how amazing this place is. I spent a week down here getting things ready for our Headless Nation Launch Party, and I feel like I left with a new little family. In fact I loved it so much and got along with the people running the place so well that we are currently working on a new project together!! Imagine every 3 months a Headless Nation Mini Market place on the top floor where we exhibit young entrepreneurs and creators, letting people float upstairs after a meal and enjoy some Kombucha, art and celebrate some creativity!!! Currently in the works…and man am I excited about this!!!

I had to include some snaps of the food of course! Honest, good, homestyle cooking...my favourite.

If anyone is every around Sydney City I highly recommend dropping in to visit this Lentil Family, you won’t regret it and i guarantee you’ll leave with your heart just a little bit more full than when you walked in.
