The everyday gourmet: Foods to die for!steemCreated with Sketch.

Do yourself a favour and try this recipe the next time you are looking for an easy yet highly nutritional gourmet meal. It's perfect for any dietary condition or requirements. This recipe is recreated all across Australia by people in all walks of life and it's suitable for ages from 8-80 years! Please note a knife is used so care must be taken if children are preparing it.

No special kitchen utensils are required and the ingredients can be found in any good 7-Eleven, local supermarket, road-side gas station or quite probably vending machines at your local hospital.

The ingredients (as pictured above)

  • 1 x small packet of cheese Twisties
  • 1 x small white bread roll (2 slices of white bread can be substituted)
  • Butter (Not margarine)

The method

  • Cut bread roll in half so you have top and a bottom. You'll note I have used a sesame seeded roll for a more exotic taste.
  • Spread the butter on the bread roll top and bottom to any thickness.
  • Place the desired amount of Twisties on the bottom half of the bread roll. Be careful to only add the correct amount here. Too many or too few Twisties and your taste sensation could be compromised by the incorrect Twisties-to-bread-ratio. Some trial and error may be required to determine the correct ratio for your personal tastes.

From here you simply plate it up and serve. I like to garnish with a couple of parmesan cheese stuffed olives in a toothpick for that extra touch of gourmet.

This hearty meal is perfect for when you're on the run and yet want a gourmet experience. There's very little preparation time and clean-up is a snap! I have also served this meal at more formal occasions, like when I have a couple of mates over to watch the motor racing or footy. In this case one could prepare a little ahead of time by pre-cutting and buttering the bread roll. I have also been known to substitute ingredients to mix it up. Instead of the Twisties one could use chicken chips for instance. Don't be afraid to experiment with different tastes and flavours.

I hope you have enjoyed my first food blog. I think next time I will do a sweet treat for you, something equally tasty and not too difficult. For now, get down to your local 7-Eleven, grab the gourmet ingredients and get cooking.

Most of my 20's looked just like this.
A favourite was cubed fritz (devon), 2 eggs and some sliced jalapeno's mixed into a tin of baked beans and nuked for 2 mins. (stop to stir half way through)

I had a flatmate who would have loved that.

It’s just good food :)

Great comment! Seems like your food blog would read similar to mine! :)

You had me at 'Twisties' Gal.

Only the good stuff for us SK!

Very good post bro, upvote and I'm waiting for you upload more content

Lol "plate it up" and garnish like it's some kind of restaurant dish!

Literary gold huh? :)
